Philip Spreads The Gospel

Evangielist Philip was preaching a revival in Samaria.  It was a great revival.  many people were baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost.

In the middle of the revival the angel of the Lord appeared to Philip and told him to walk south to the desert.  Philip must have been a fast runner, because he caught up with it.

The man in the chariot was from Ethiopia.  He was reading the scroll of the prophet Isaiah.  Isaiah was one of the men who wrote about Jesus' birth long before it happened.

The Ethiopian was reading about Jesus, but he did not understand what he was reading.  Philip jumped into the chariot and explained it to him.

Here is a poem about Philip Sharing the Gospel.

A Poem About Philip

An angel came, to Phillip talked.

“The Lord said, “You should take a walk.

Go south down the desert road.”

Philip did as he was told,

He saw a chariot going past.

It was moving very fast.

“Go, catch up and get inside,

And with this man take a ride.”

Philip ran along and heard him read,

The scroll from the Book Isaiah indeed.

Philip jumped in with the man,

And explained so he could understand.

With the scroll of Isaiah, he began

To share the good news with the man.

He told about salvation’s plan,

And then the man did understand.

“There’s water. Will you baptize me?”

“Yes, I will if you believe.”

They stopped the chariot and got out.

Went into the water without a doubt.

Philip baptized the man that day.

Rejoicing he went on his way.

The Spirit took Philip to another place.

The Ethiopian no more saw his face.

DLTK's Bible Activities for Kids
Junior Asparagus from Veggie Tales

Read a bit about DLTK's Grow With Me Craft Concept to get some ideas on how this basic craft idea can be used with different materials to make it appropriate for everyone from ages 2 thru 82!

Alternative:  Scotch tape a straw or popsicle stick to the bottom to make a puppet!

Materials:

bullet printer
bullet paper
bullet scissors
bullet glue
bullet something to color with (if using B&W template)

Directions:

bullet Print template of choice.

bullet Color the template pieces if you are doing the B&W version

bullet Cut out the template pieces (this may require adult assistance -- I usually roughly cut the paper into pieces with one template on each.  Then I give my 4 year old the big ones to work on and I cut out the smaller ones.)

bullet The large piece is the main piece.  To it, glue (in order):
  1. the hat
  2. the eyes
  3. the nose (overlapping the eyes a bit)

bullet look at the image of the finished craft if you get stuck (there's a small image of the finished project on the top of this page).  -- if doing the craft with a group of children, I recommend pre-making an example for them to look at.

bullet Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.

bullet Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
